Guidance on Selecting Alumni

When selecting alumni to feature, please consider the following factors:

  • Diversity: Aim to feature a diverse array of your department’s alumni, including gender, race/ethnicity, and age.
  • Degree Completed: If your department offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees, consider featuring an even balance of both.
  • Partner Organizations/Companies: Consider selecting alumni who are currently employed at companies that fall into one of the following categories:
  • maintains a strong partnership with your department
  • hires a large proportion of your students
  • considered prestigious in your field
  • “Famous” Alumni: If appropriate, consider highlighting an alumnus/a if they have achieved a prestigious accomplishment and/or have name recognition in your field or more broadly.
  • Alumni Volunteers or Alumni Donors: Consider the alumni who have volunteered their time, treasure, or talent to your department.
