Reporting and Investigations
If you’ve experienced sexual harassment, sexual violence, relationship violence, or stalking, you are strongly encouraged to make a report to both the police and to the University for assistance and investigation. The police investigate criminal violations, while the University (Office of Community Standards and Office of Institutional Equity) investigates University conduct code and policy violations. Reporting can help to ensure your safety as well as the safety of the entire campus community. If you have been named as a respondent and are alleged to have perpetrated an act of sexual harassment or sexual violence, you are also strongly encouraged to seek any support or assistance necessary. Retaliation against any individual who makes a report, is accused of misconduct, and/or who participates in an investigation is strictly forbidden and should be reported. You have the right to report without further participation in any investigation.
