Reporting and Investigations for Concerns with Students and Employees
Reporting and Investigations Information | + |
All victim-survivors that make a report to UConn will be contacted by a university professional with an emphasis on care and support.
Victim-survivors are strongly encouraged to make a report to both the police and the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) for assistance and investigation. The police investigate criminal violations. The University (OIE and Office of Community Standards) investigates University conduct code and policy violations. Reporting can help to ensure the safety of the victim-survivor and the entire campus community. Victim-survivors have the right to report incidents without further participation in any investigation.
As stated in the Policy Against Discrimination, Harassment, and Related Interpersonal Violence, the University will not pursue disciplinary action against Complainants or witnesses for disclosure of illegal personal consumption of drugs or alcohol where such disclosures are made in connection with a good faith report or investigation of Prohibited Conduct. If an incident involved alcohol and/or drugs, UConn’s Good Samaritan Statement will explain the University’s expectations of students seeking immediate medical assistance for themselves or others when necessary.
