What to expect when you make a report
If you have been subjected to or witnessed sexual harassment, reporting is your choice. Reporting harassment does not mean that you have to make a complaint or that a formal investigation will occur. In most cases, the complainant is the person who decides if they want an investigation to move forward. However, it is important for the University to know about your experience and to assess what steps are necessary to ensure a non-discriminatory learning and working environment.
Please note that Deans, Directors, Department Heads and Supervisors are required to report to the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) allegations of sexual harassment where either the complainant or respondent is an employee. In addition, when sexual harassment involves sexual contact, all employees except those in confidential resources (Student Health and Wellness, Employee Assistance Program and the Ombuds) must report the allegations to OIE when a student is reported to have been involved in the incident(s).
