We are now accepting applications for the MS in HR Management program.

 

Professional Work Experience

Two years of professional, full-time work experience (including internships and/or military experience) are preferred, but not required for admission consideration.  Work experience raises the caliber of learning in the classroom through thoughtful and extensive team projects and discussions of real-world situations and solutions. While previous experience in the Human Resources field is not a requirement, it is also preferred.

Prior Academic Performance

The University of Connecticut requires that all applicants to graduate programs hold a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university.

A minimum cumulative GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 on an applicant’s four-year Bachelor’s degree or the final two-year GPA is expected.  A 3.0 or higher on any Master’s level completed coursework or degree is expected.  You may still apply if your GPA falls below the required minimum.

Application Requirements

The Graduate Programs in HR Management include the MSHRM degree, the joint MBA/MSHRM degree, and the Advanced Business Certificate in HR Management. When we review applications, we consider each candidate’s entire portfolio of work.  Our primary determinate is how well the selected HRM program fits within an individual’s personal and professional goals, as well as each candidate’s ability to handle the rigorous curriculum. For MSHRM and MBA/MSHRM candidates, we also consider how each candidate’s experience and skills will contribute to the program cohort.  A complete application for all HRM programs include:

  • A brief personal statement stating why you are applying to the HRM program and how your graduate studies will support your personal and professional objectives
  • One professional or academic letter of reference.
  • Professional resume
  • No GMAT or GRE  Requirement
  • Unofficial transcript(s) for all undergraduate and graduate coursework.

*If accepted, we will require official college transcript(s) mailed by your institution(s) for all undergraduate and graduate coursework.  These can be mailed to: University of Connecticut School of Business, Attn: Graduate Transcripts, 2100 Hillside Road Unit 1041, Storrs, CT 06269-1041.  Official transcripts for coursework completed at the University of Connecticut are not required.

Application Review

The Graduate Programs in HRM Admissions Committee meets frequently during the admission season to review applications and discuss candidates. Once a decision has been reached, you will receive an email with information about how to log in to see your admission information. At that time, if you are offered admission to either the ABC HRM or the MSHRM program, you can accept or decline our offer. To ensure that you can be matriculated and enrolled for the next semester’s courses, we kindly ask that applicants accept their admission offers as quickly as possible. International Students

This program is a part-time program.  There is no full-time option at this time.  Pursuant to U.S. immigration regulations, the University of Connecticut may not sponsor F-1 and J-1 visas for the purpose of coming to the U.S. for enrollment in this program.  International students may enroll in this program if they are currently in the U.S. on a work visa.
