Mary Ellen Junda has a Bachelors in Music Education, from the University of Hartford, a Masters in Music Education from Holy Names University, Ed.M. and an Ed.D from Teachers College, Columbia University. She will be including a service-learning component in MUSI 1002 Sing and Shout! The History of America in Song. In this course, students come together to learn about history and culture in America through immersion in American folk songs, games, and dances associated with population movements and critical moments in our country’s past. By including a service-learning component, students will be able to share with a larger community the knowledge and skills they developed in class regarding the use of music in historical, cultural and community contexts.
